Netflix Confirms Riveting Drama Series ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’ IU and Park Bo-gum

Exciting news for K-drama fans! Netflix has officially announced a new Korean drama called "When Life Gives You Tangerines," starring IU and Park Bo Gum. IU, known for her role in "My Mister," is taking on a romantic character in this series set in the beautiful Jeju Island. The story revolves around Ae Sun, a rebellious character from Jeju Island, and Gwan Sik. Fans are eagerly awaiting this collaboration, and with the backdrop of Jeju Island, it promises to be a captivating romantic adventure. The chemistry between IU and Park Bo Gum, along with the direction of Kim Won Seok, adds to the anticipation for what looks like a promising project. 

Discussions surrounding the drama have been ongoing since the previous year, initially titled You Have Done Well in the Jeju dialect. The storyline delves into the life journeys of Ae and Gwan Sik, both born on Jeju Island in the 1950s.



In terms of character details, IU plays the energetic person with a pure heart, Ae Soon. She dreams of poetry and is optimistic despite her struggles. She has an open mind and doesn't hesitate to voice her emotions.

Conversely, Park Bo Gum plays the committed and industrious character Gwan Shik. He may find it difficult to convey romantic feelings, but his love for Ae Soon is unwavering. He is a faithful and committed partner because of his quiet dedication.

Under the direction of Kim Won Suk, the mastermind of Misaeng (Incomplete Life), Signal, and My Mister, the cast of When Life Gives You Tangerine features a powerful ensemble. The renowned screenwriter Im Sang Choon, who is best known for her pieces in Fight My Way and When the Camellia Blooms, wrote the screenplay. Moon So Ri and Park Hae Joon are also expected to provide noteworthy performances.



Speaking of its well-liked female star, UI, Lee Ji Eun, or IU as she is more affectionately known, recently announced her involvement in the project after the release of her comeback album, in addition to her role in the next K-drama. On January 30 at 12 am KST, the mood film for her sixth mini-album, The Winning, was made available.


The album, including BTS member V on the first single "Love Wins All," is slated for release on February 20 at 6 p.m. KST. The anticipation for IU's comeback to the entertainment industry is heightened by these two announcements.
